In my opinion, the best value-for-money hearing aid in today's market is Rexton. With Rexton hearing aids you'll receive the cutting-edge Signia technology at an affordable price. Read through this review to learn why.
Dr Cliff's list of the top 5 best hearing aids of 2024 is out and as expected Signia Pure Charge and Go 7IX is in that list. What if I tell you that you can purchase a top-of-the-range Signia Pure C&G 7IX for 40% less?! Continue reading...
The WSA Audiology is the parent company of Widex, Signia and Rexton hearing aids. The Widex and Signia hearing aids target the top-tier consumer group while Rexton hearing aids target the mid to lower range of the consumer group. The key piece of information is that Rexton hearing aids use the same technology that Signia products use. Rexton is a branding strategy to provide competitively priced hearing aids for customers on a budget and mainly aiming for markets such as Portugal, Turkey, Greece, Eastern Europe, etc.
The good news is that you can purchase Rexton hearing aids with a 5-year warranty in the UK too.
What are the best entry-level hearing aids?
In my opinion, Rexton is the best entry-level hearing aid. If you have mild or mild to moderate hearing loss and you are not sure if you are ready to start using hearing aids you don't want to purchase a pair of expensive high-end hearing aids. Instead, you might want to try some reasonably priced hearing aids but also need to test the water to see how the hearing aids can help you hear better and what impact they might have on the quality of your life.
If you are a first-time user of hearing aids, then Rexton Reach is the best I can recommend. The reason is that you enjoy the speech understanding of Signia technology while spending much less money on it when you purchase Rexton Reach. The dual-processor sound processing that Signia and Rexton hearing aids use has a proven track record in reducing noise and improving the signal-to-noise ratio which means better speech understanding in virtually any environment.
What are the best second-pair hearing aids?
Some patients would like to have a second pair of hearing aids. This group of patients may have a moderate or severe hearing loss, hence rely on hearing aids daily hence need to have a backup plan in case their main pair of hearing aids are sent for repair or service for example. Again, Rexton hearing aids make a great second pair of hearing aids simply because you don't want to spend a lot of money for a pair of backup hearing aids which could be used only a few times a year, but you want them to be as good as your main pair.
What are the best hearing aids to upgrade from NHS?
If you are in the market to upgrade your free NHS hearing aids but you are also on a tight budget then Rexton hearing aids might be a good option for you. What you receive from Rexton hearing aids is the best of two worlds; a top-notch quality par with the the best hearing aids in the market such as Signia Pure 7IX, but also you get that at a much lower price.
What's new with the Rexton hearing aids?
In February 2024, Rexton introduced Rexton Reach. The new platform is equivalent to Signia Pure Charge and Go IX. Rexton hearing aids with Reach and those with the Signia IX platform can lock into multiple speakers at the same time, even when they are moving. This platform is a step change from Signia AX and Rexton BiCore platforms that only could provide a front focus beaming for speech.
You could order receivers in the canal (RIC), behind the ear (BTE), and CIC Rexton hearing aids on the Rexton Reach platform. The rechargeable Rexton in-the-canal (ITC) which is equivalent to Signia Insio still uses the old dual-processor sound processing unit and is yet to become available for Signia Insio IX and Rexton Reach platforms.
In summary, you could expect the following features from the latest Rexton Reach platform:
Multi-Voice Focus technology (only Signia IX has such a feature)
Available in standard and telecoil versions
Direct audio streaming from iOS and Android smartphones
Battery runtime (5 hours of streaming) up to 24 hours
3 to 5 hours for a full charge
Comes with a desktop or a rechargeable power pack charger
ATEX and IP68 certified for resilience in water, humidity and dust
Remote telecare and reprogramming
Streaming TV soundtrack (through Connex TV streamer)
How does the Rexton multi-voice focus work?
The Rexton Reach hearing aids take advantage of multi-array microphones on each one. The difference in the time each microphone receives the sound is the basis for the hearing aids to determine the directionality of the sound and when gone through the dual processor sound processing system they can determine where the speaker is located around the wearer.
In my experience with Signia 7IX which also has the multi-voice focus system, you could take advantage of the multi-voice focus and tracking speakers better when your hearing aids are fitted closed. Hearing aids with open-fitting will have natural limitations in suppressing the background noise and hence may not be able to be as effective in helping to understand speech in a noisy environment.
The below video demonstrates how the Rexton Reach multi-voice focus works.
Do Rexton hearing aids come only in receivers in the canal - RIC?
At the time of publishing this review, Rexton Reach hearing aids come in rechargeable RIC. However, soon Reach platform will be extended to CIC, ITC and BTE models. At the moment you can purchase Rexton BiCore models in Rechargeable custom Li rechargeable and BTE.
Conclusion
If you are looking for the best value for money hearing aids, or the best budget hearing aids, or the best hearing aids to upgrade your NHS hearing aids the answer is Rexton.
Update
Rexton released its rechargeable invisible Rexton Reach inoX CIC in April 2024. The hearing aid is the smallest rechargeable CIC and takes advantage of the same IX platform as Signia SILK IX CIC. Rexton Reach inoX CIC comes with a portable portable charger and when fully charged can run 24 to 29 hours without the need for a recharge. It can connect to the Rexton App for adjusting the volume, setting programs and receiving remote telecare updates. Rexton Reach inoX CIC comes in 3 technology levels, 80, 60 and 40. The product is the choice of hearing aid for people with mild to moderate hearing loss who want a pair of rechargeable and discrete hearing aids. Rexton Reach inoX CIC has received a lot of interest from those who are in search of an affordable replacement for their NHS hearing aids.
